Welcome to Room 7/8's blog. We have 19 wonderful year 1 children in our classroom. We think we are super lucky because we have two teachers! Mrs Forsyth teaches us in the morning and in the afternoons Mrs Fairweather teaches us while Mrs Forsyth takes Reading Recovery. Our lovely teacher aides Jody and Ameena help us too! Thanks for visiting our blog...we would love you to leave a comment.

This Week in Maths...
Dear Family and Whānau,
This week in maths we are studying position and direction. Encourage your child to use language such as over, under, left, right high low, near, far to describe where objects are in relation to each other. Ask your child to describe the path they would follow to get from one end of the garden to their room. Ask them to describe the route they take to get to a friend's house.
It would also help to review the 2D and 3D shapes that your child knows through accesing the link below...

Great Writing Matai
Matai used describing words in his writing today to make it interesting. Great writing Matai!
I heard fireworks. They sounded like shotguns shooting in the sky. They were sparkling in the sky like a rainbow.
