Welcome to Room 7/8's blog. We have 19 wonderful year 1 children in our classroom. We think we are super lucky because we have two teachers! Mrs Forsyth teaches us in the morning and in the afternoons Mrs Fairweather teaches us while Mrs Forsyth takes Reading Recovery. Our lovely teacher aides Jody and Ameena help us too! Thanks for visiting our blog...we would love you to leave a comment.

Measuring Fun
We have been learning about weight (mass) and volume/capacity over the last at two weeks in maths. We have looked at heavier and lighter, comparing weights, using fulcrum scales and using a standard weight to weigh everyday objects. Today Mrs Fairweather's groups were looking at capacity - estimating and checking which vessel holds the most water and comparing/ranking from vessels which hold to least to the most.
The Day the Ambulance Came to School
Last Friday we had a mufti day at school to raise money for St John's. We are also really privileged to have the ambulance come to school in the afternoon. We all got to have a look inside. Kaleb and Mrs Fairweather got to have a turn at being lifted into the ambulance in their special chair. We also got balloons and lollipops!! Thanks Leanne for bringing the ambulance to school!
Special Principal's Awards
Congratulations to these children who have received Special Principal's Awards. These are given out when a child has received 5, 10, 15 and 25 Classroom Certificates (or other school awards). Remember to save these up and take them into Taryn when you have reached one of the milestones. When you get to 25 you get $10 to spend on the next book club!!

Penny the Prolific Pooing Cow
This week Ayla brought a book and cd from home for us to share. We loved singing it so much that we shared it with Rooms 5 and 6 too! Tomorrow in assembly we will be sharing it with the the whole school - this is not a polished, practised performance but you are welcome to come and join us.
