CHANGE

This term our topic is 'CHANGE"

Today we made some lemonade and we learnt that solids can change into liquids. The solids we used were 'lemons' and we changed them into a liquid, "lemonade".

First we squeezed the juice out of the lemons (solids)...

Then we added some water...

Jake volunteered to taste test it....to check if it was sweet enough???

Jake's expression said it all....

Soooo...in went some sugar and a touch of baking soda!!!

And, then we had some more taste tests...

And....it was yummy!
So...today we learnt that a solid (lemons) can change into a liquid (lemonade).

Kath Bee Came To Visit!

Today Kath Bee (from Nelson) came to visit. We went to the hall to listen to her sing songs to us. Some of us were chosen to go up the front and join in the actions and dance moves. We learnt some fun new songs and watched Kath make balloon animals. We even sung a song that we all love and one we already sing at assembly, called, "Individuality" ... we learnt that Kath Bee had written the song and created the music.
What a clever lady!

Bella and Ari received Principal's Awards. Well done you clever people....keep up the great work!

Growing Beans

Some of the Room 7 children are growing beans with a buddy. They will record any changes that happen to their bean in their 'Bean Journal' each week.

On Thursday we got a plastic cup and rolled up a paper towel. We placed the paper towel in the middle of the cup and filled the inside with soil. Next we put a bean seed between the paper towel and the cup. Then we added water to the soil (not too much though!).

Now we can see what happens to the bean seed.

What do you think will happen?

Seeds, seeds, seeds...

This term we are growing plants. There are so many different types of seeds. Can you guess what type of plants these seeds will grow into?
